About Us
We are Jackie & Joe Watson who after working in an office environment for around 40 years embarked on a complete life style change. Rivenherd Alpacas was established December 2013.

Initially we purchased our foundation stock from Barnacre Alpacas, Fowberry Alpacas and Houghton Hall Alpacas and with careful breeding, predominantly using the excellent stud males of Beck Brow Alpacas we have produced a quality herd by combining these established bloodlines.
For us one of the major attractions of owning alpacas is competing at shows both locally and nationally. Showing against the major breeders lays down the benchmark of where your herd should be heading in both quality of fleece and the conformation of the animals. We must be doing something right as we have been awarded Champion and Reserve Champion sashes in all colours.

The icing on the cake was taking our 1st Supreme Champion with Rivenherd Georgia at Yorkshire Alpaca Show in 2021 awarded by Barbara Hetherington. Following on from that our 2nd Supreme Champion was awarded to Rivenherd Hardy at Northumberland County Show 2022 by Tim Hey. Our 3rd Supreme Champion Old Felton Ivy (owned by Rivenherd Alpacas) at NEBAG Autumn Show 2023 under Cathy Lloyd.
Always keen to learn as much as we can we have attended many courses including, husbandry, birthing, nutrition, land management and various ones on fleece. We now feel in a position to pass on our successful genetics and have a selection of open and pregnant females possibly with cria at foot together with pet boys and potential stud males. Through our own experiences we have the confidence to provide the backup and support required to new Alpaca owners.
Rivenherd Alpacas are members of BAS together with four regional alpaca groups.
